Freecom external drives are widely used for backups and file storage. When one stops working, the fault can be in the drive itself, the USB circuit board or the power supply. We test each part separately so we fix the real problem and don’t risk your data.

Common Freecom problems

  • Clicking or beeping – usually damaged heads inside the drive.
  • Drive not recognised – often a failed USB bridge board.
  • Dropped portable drives with damaged heads or platters.
  • Power supply failure on desktop models.
  • Deleted files or a drive that asks to be formatted.

How we recover it

After a free initial consultation, we remove the drive from its case and test it directly. Logical problems are recovered from a clone of the drive; physical faults go through a clean room diagnostic and repair with a matched donor drive.


Prices

  • Initial consultation: Free – tells you whether the fault is physical or logical and the best recovery method. Doesn’t include opening the drive in a clean room or any recovery attempt.
  • Clean room diagnostic: £79 + VAT – the drive is opened in our clean room to identify the damaged parts.
  • Physical data recovery on a single drive: £450 + VAT – labour, plus the cost of a donor drive if required.
  • Deleted files on a standard hard drive: £99 + VAT – includes up to two hours of work.
